Here are a few ideas on designing a Vastu home

1.The ideal direction to place the altar is North-Eastern direction.
2.Balcony Plan a balcony in North or East.
3.A balcony in South is not recommended.
4.Ideally the bathroom should be located in East.
5.If that is not possible, then the next best direction is North.
6.Beams Design to have an even number of beams in a room.
7.But do not sleep under the beams as it is likely to cause health complications.
8.Plan the Master bedroom in South or South-Western corner of the house.
9.A room in North-Western corner should be kept for guests or girls of marrigable age in the family.
19.In either case avoid sleeping with feet facing South because it drains away the body energy.
11.Cash and Valuables Place them in a cupboard on the Northern side, preferably in a room which is in Northern side.
12.Dining room should be in the west.as west is the direction of Saturn, representative of the masses and therefore also of their feeding mouths and hunger.
13.Vastu Shastra directs that the eating room should be located in the Western side of the house. 14.Doors Plan the house to have even number of doors.
15.Agni, the vedic god of fire, resides in South-East. Vastu therefore recommends that the kitchen should be loacated in the South-Eastern corner.
16.The Main entrance should not face either intersections of roads, or an approaching dead end road. Nor should it be obstructed by tall structures like trees or lamp posts.
17.If it has steps leading to the house, then build an even number of steps
18.Even numbers of pillars promote harmony in the house.
19.A Vastu house has odd number of rooms. Count all rooms which have a door.
20.A staircase is considered to be 'heavy'. Its preferred diretion is South or West.
21.Do not have a staircase in North-Eastern part of the house.
22.Avoid the construction of a toilet in the North-eastern part of the house.
23.Plan to have it between South and South-Western side of the house.
24.West, SouthTall trees are fine in S and W, but should be avoided in N and E.
25.Windows Vastu warns that a house should not have a total number of 3, 6 or 11 windows.
26. Avoid dark interiors at all costs.
27.Houses which are dark and cold inside due to large trees around it, excessive vines and climbers, heavy curtains, or poor lighting become spooky and give an eerie feeling. The inhabitants feel uncomfortable, they begin to hear unnatural sounds, family members fall sick and life becomes difficult.
28.One should also avoid building a house close to graveyards, cremation grounds, old burial sites, hospitals, areas of genocide, jails, butcheries, within view of a cemetery, adjacent to a place of worship.
